Monday's Mail Day

Monday was a wonderful day for mail. I received a long awaited package from the UK from a friend on Brick Set.  It included a gift for out 7 week old son and the Limo Helicopter set #3222.  The other package came from Plastic Bricks Direct.  It included a ton of parts for the passenger car portion of Holiday Set #10173.

There still are some key pieces I need for the passenger cars including the slopes for the roof and frames for the windows.  I created an excel spreadsheet to track my progress and cost per car.  I currently have 59% of the pieces for one car. I also have a PDF of the parts needed for the car.  I can send it to anyone who would like to help out. I am willing to trade anything on my BrickLink store.


Ultimately I would love to have three passenger cars attached to the little engine.  Hopefully by the time Brick Cascade rolls around I am able to have it up and running.  I would like to have a Christmas/Winter Village set up for it.

Unfortunately I will be slowing down with LEGO for right now.  I need to be studying and passing some of my CPA exams.

Great Mail Day From BrickLink

Today I received two packages in the mail. Both came from BrickLink, one trade, one purchase.

The haul contained pieces I am seeking in order to recreate set 10173 Holiday Train. I got 4 Train Plates, 18 Train Wheel Sets, 4 red Train Baseplates (6x28), and 9 middle pieces (for the train middle section). Although the set only calls for 2 6x28 pieces, I will be using the two extras to make two additional passenger cars.

Tomorrow I should be getting about 40% of the pieces to build the passenger car from Plastic Bricks Direct. In addition to the passenger car parts, all the train boogies are coming plus 4 extras for the extra cars I want to build.

I've been scanning the Eurobricks forums looking to see how people have motorized their trains using power functions. I'll post my research and method once the time comes.

Just wanted to give a shout out to the two stores I bought/traded with: Blackrock's Blocks and Thorz BrikTopia.

Birthday and Brick Friday Loot

Happy Brick Friday everyone!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  I got some wonderful birthday gifts, #4437 Police Pursuit and #3661 Bank & Money Transfer.  


After eating some turkey and getting the kids down, I waiting in line at the Tigard, OR LEGO Store for 40 minutes.  I had two targets, the new Police Heavy Lift Helicopter and the recently marked down Emerald Night.  It went great once I got into the store, I grabbed both sets and was first in line to check out.  On my pull tab, I got a 20% discount!  With the $15 of VIP point redemption, it only cost $85 for an Emerald Night and Heavy Lift Helicopter.


With the purchases I also got the #2 Christmas Set and a PAB box for free.  I have the Winter Post Office coming in the mail tomorrow along with some Duplo sets for my sons and their friend's birthday.  I will have a #2 Christmas Set coming with that one as well.

Overall it was a great experience.  Now I am trying to map out what to get now or wait till the Boxing Day sales with the discontinued sets.

Updated Christmas Layout

I filled up another cup of white bricks and plates at the LEGO store in Washington Square today and was able to build the Winter Toy Shop tonight. The finishing touches of my Christmas Village will be made after Black Friday when I pick up the Winter Post Office. I should be good to go on white bricks and plates now as well.

The pick-a-brick wall at the LEGO store had a great selection of white plates, 6x8, 4x8, and 4x6 plates were all available. This allowed me to lay a very good foundation for the Christmas Village.

I've also added some Collectible Minifigures to the village. There is a Skier, Female and Male Snowboarders, Hockey Player, and 2 Eskimos.

Christmas is coming!

With only 46 sleeps till Christmas, I began breaking out the Winter Village sets. I will most likely need to buy more white plates. It is starting to come together. I will be putting the Toy Shop together soon and buying the Post Office around Black Friday.

Target Inventory Checker

Target Clearance

The Starwars AAT and Fire Helicopter polybags in the Halloween are currently 50% off. Check your local stores for availability, it is while supplies last.

In the LEGO aisle next to all of the Ninjago spinners, there were two polybags, 30111 The Lab and 30060 Target Practice, $3.99 and $3.49 respectively.  Check out our Target Inventory Checker to see if they are available close to you!

Series 6 and Series 7 Release Dates

Per Toys N Bricks, LEGO Minifigures 8827 Series 6 will be be released on January 1st, 2012 and LEGO Minifigures 8831 Series 7 will be released on May 1st, 2012.  Currently the Barnes & Nobles website is showing the MSRP as $3.55.  Anticipate the minifigures hitting Toys R Us about 2-3 weeks before the release date.  This should make for a very exciting Christmas rush.

Naboo Starfighter 30% off

Hey Everyone!

If you are a Star Wars fan you may want to check out your local Targets.  I noticed yesterday, October 27th, that my local Target in Wilsonville was out of the LEGO Creator Dune Hopper and used the Naboo Starfighter, Target Exclusive, as a replacement.  This works out to a savings of 30%.  It also makes the price per piece reasonable at almost $.10 per piece!

This only runs until Saturday so don't miss out!

On the website, Toys 'N Bricks, there are also reports on the Black Pearl already being marked at 50% clearance!  Instead of $99.99, it is $49.99.  I have not been able to confirm these reports, but some of their members have.

Amazon is also currently showing the Black Pearl as 15% off.  And lastly Costco is showing the Black Pearl as 20% off of MRP. 

Series 6 and Series 7 Official Pictures

I came across this on Toys N Bricks, they had official pictures of Series 6 and Series 7.  Both sets look good, I am a little disappointed that we still do not have an American Football player.  I am still holding out that Series 8 will include one.

Some must haves for me in Series 7 are the Hippie, Professor/Computer Programmer, Aztec Warrior, and the female Viking.

LEGO Cuusoo

LEGO Cuusoo is a website that allows you to add creations and ideas in hopes of having your creation or ideas turned into an actual LEGO set.  All you need is 10,000 supporters :)

Brick Cascade Coming to Portland in June!

Fresh off of the heels of Brickcon, Portland will once again be hosting a LEGO convention! I was unable to make it to Brickcon, but judging from the pictures I've seen on Flickr, there was some cool stuff.  I am very eager to see what Brick Cascade has to offer.

It will be Friday June 1 thru Sunday June 3 at the Oregon Convention Center, Hall E. Here is the current link to the website. Not much details as of right now, but hopefully some more coming soon, Brick Cascade Website.

With all of this said, between my studying for the CPA exam, hopefully I can at lease complete my Oregon Ducks Football team for the show, if not more!

MOC in the Planning Process

As you all can see from the picture on the left and the title of the post, I am in the process of planning to build a football MOC.  I have multiple threads going on many different forums trying to source pieces.

Series 6 All Figures!!!



Alright!  It has finally been put out!  The complete list of Series 6 Collectible Minifigures.  Although we already knew what 10 of them were and had hints of #11, the Robot's torso was shown on the Alien, we still eagerly awaited the remaining 6.  So now we have them, Roman Solider, Bandit, Surgeon, Flamenco Dancer, and Guy in PJs.

Overall I am pleased but disappointed at the same time.  I am desperately in need of an American Football player, or 53 of them for an NFL roster, plus 8 more for a practice squad, but I am happy for the Roman Guard and Scotsman.  There also seem to be plenty of new molds: X-Ray, T-Bone, Clever, Genie Lamp, Roman Shield, and others.

Various Updates

Hello all!

It has been a little bit since I last updated or posted.  Here is a little of what's going on!

Modular Buildings

During the previous Toys R Us Buy One Get One 50% off sale, I took the plunge into the Grand Emporium.  On Thursday I split the build with my wife and sister (we each did a floor).  Needless to say it was a very fun build!  See the picture below of it next to the Pet Shop.

Series 5 Minifigures

As mentioned in the previous blog entry, I have started a Series 5 Roll Out Map.  It can be viewed by going to here.

Also I have been on the hunt for Series 5 since they have been showing up overseas in the UK and other parts of Europe.  I will be adding them to my Haves/Wants and Bricklink store as soon as I get them.

LEGO Store San Jose, CA

I was in San Jose, CA earlier in the week traveling for business and stopped by the Santa Clara LEGO Store in the Valley Fair Mall.  I filled a Pick-A-Brick cup.  I got some good 4x4 green and brown plates.  I also got a few 8x6 white plates for our Christmas scene.  Overall it was a nice store.  They were all out of Series 3 Minifigures but had a box of Series 4 out.  I randomly grabbed a Hockey Player so I was very pleased :)

Collectible Minifigures Series 5 Rollout Map

Over in the UK, Minifigure Series 5 have been reported in the stores.  See this link for the story on BrickSet.

With that said, inspired by The Ugly Duckling @ Brick Link, I have started a Series 5 Rollout Map.  It is through Google Maps and allows for people to add where they have seen Series 5.

Information we are looking for on the map includes, Price, How Many Are Left, Where Are They In The Store, and Date.
